Proposal of the takeover:

Linlithgow was also known as Linlithgowshire, midway between the glamour of Glasgow and the elegance of Edinburgh lies West Lothian - and is where the town of Linlithgow is situated which offers a wide range of attractions. A takeover of Sun, which has a plant at Linlithgow, could be announced as early as tomorrow 6th April 2009. Buying Sun would give IBM a clear lead at the high end of the $45bn overall server market, which it fights over with Hewlett-Packard.

Obviously all such takeovers can have a great impact on the local communities and the town is anxious to hear about the the fate of the company.

Sun Microsystems is one of the largest suppliers of servers for the IT industry and provide much of the backend to the Internet. Sun also owns MYSQL which is a widely used database facility used to power many online applications.
